The Grating Spectrometer and Atomic Spectra

چکیده

In the previous experiment diffraction and interference were discussed and at the end a diffraction grating was introduced. In this lab most of the things learned in the last experiment will be applied to measure the wavelengths of the lines in the visible spectrum of some elements. You will use a diffraction grating mounted on a spectrometer to measure the interference maxima for various wavelengths of light. Knowing the grating spacing, a measurement of the angle gives the wavelength.

Interstellar X - ray Absorption Spectroscopy of Oxygen , Neon , and Iron with the

We find resolved interstellar O K, Ne K, and Fe L absorption spectra in the Chandra Low Energy Transmission Grating Spectrometer spectrum of the low mass X-ray binary X0614+091. We measure the column densities in O and Ne, and find direct spectroscopic constraints on the chemical state of the interstellar O. These measurements probably probe a low-density line of sight through the Galaxy and we...

The effect of doping Graphene Quantum Dots with K, B, N, and Cl on its emitted spectrum

In this work, the effect of doping Graphene Quantum Dots (GQDs) on their emission spectra has been studied. First, graphene has been deposited on SiC substrate by using sublimation method. Second, doped-GQDs have been distributed on the surface of graphene via drop casting. The structure of the samples have been studied and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy ...

EUV spectroscopy on the SSPX spheromak

Extreme ultraviolet (EUV) plasma spectroscopy is one the diagnostics implemented at the Sustained Spheromak Physics Experiment (SSPX) at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. A grating spectrometer covering the spectral region of 25 450 Å with a resolution of 0.3 Å was used as an impurity diagnostic to monitor the plasmas and to carry out atomic physics research. Several low-Z impurities ...

What Is an Ft-ir and an Ft-ir Spectrometer?

An FT-IR Spectrometer is an instrument which acquires broadband NIR to FIR spectra. Unlike a dispersive instrument, i.e. grating monochromator or spectrograph, an FT-IR Spectrometer collects all wavelengths simultaneously. This feature, called the Multiplex or Felgett Advantage, is discussed in detail on page 3. FT-IR Spectrometers are often simply called FT-IRs. But for the purists, an FT-IR (...

Measurement and analysis of atomic hydrogen and diatomic molecular AlO, C2, CN, and TiO spectra following laser-induced optical breakdown.

In this work, we present time-resolved measurements of atomic and diatomic spectra following laser-induced optical breakdown. A typical LIBS arrangement is used. Here we operate a Nd:YAG laser at a frequency of 10 Hz at the fundamental wavelength of 1,064 nm. The 14 nsec pulses with anenergy of 190 mJ/pulse are focused to a 50 µm spot size to generate a plasma from optical breakdown or laser ab...
